3 Essential Tips to Keep Your Eyes Healthy

Monday 23 November 2009

Our eyes are one of the most crucial parts of our body, yet most of us don't take enough care of them, meaning we could suffer from sight problems in the near or distant future. However, by following these 3 simple steps you can take excellent care of your eyes, ensuring they will stay healthy and sharp well into old age.

1. Eat Well

Our eyes are constantly being damaged by external factors such as dirt, dust, and sunlight. This is perfectly natural, and our eyes are actually well designed to be able to repair and heal themselves. However, they can only do this if they are fed the proper building blocks. The most common type of damage is from antioxidants, and our eyes require Vitamin A to repair this damage. Make sure you get plenty of Vitamin A-rich foods such as green vegetables, so that your eyes can heal themselves easily.

2. Sooth Them

Every now and then, treat your eyes to a soothing treatment session. This doesn't need to be an expensive trip to a salon - in fact you can do it yourself, at home, for practically no cost. A great treatment is to place slices of cool cucumber of potato over your eyes. This will help to reduce puffiness, and improve the appearance of wrinkles and bags around your eyes. You can even combine this treatment with a face mask for a thorough beauty session!

3. Relax Them

In this digital age, it is common for people to spend much of their day staring at a computer screen. This can put undue strain on our eyes, causing them to feel tired and dry. Therefore it is essential that you take some time each day to get away from your screen. Try to take a break of a few minutes every hour while working, and perhaps go for a longer walk in the evening, to give your eyes a rest and to get them more used to focusing on more distant objects.

By following these 3 simple steps you can greatly improve your eye health. This will ensure you can enjoy sharp, blur-free vision for many years to come.

What is the Best Eye Cream For You?

Tuesday 3 November 2009

The skin beneath our eyes is very sensitive, and prone to damage. With passing age, we often find ourselves engulfed with dark circles. This forces us to spend money on eye creams. Before you make a purchase decision, you need to consider several factors so that you are certain that you have laid your hands on the best eye cream.

First and foremost, decide what problems need to be fixed by the eye cream you intend to purchase. There are different products out there which are meant to deal with different skin issues. For example, most facial moisturizers available in the market are not recommended to be used around the eye areas, as they have been proven to be very strong for the delicate areas around your eyes.

Some individuals experience puffy eyes which are caused due to some kind of allergy or fluid retention. Fluid retention is a temporary condition which occurs when the fluid gathers around the eyes area while one is asleep. Before applying the eye cream on puffy eyes, sleep on your back by elevating your head working your way out as this will ease the puffiness. Cold compresses, tea bags and cucumber slices can also help you soothe the puffiness.

Baggy eye is another situation you will have to deal with. Unlike puffy eyes, they occur when there are fat deposits around the eye area. The fat layer drops forwards making your eyes appear baggy in appearance. The best cream would be that which caters to your needs according to your problem. In this case, you would need a cream which would enhance the elasticity of the skin so that the problem of baggy eyes is eliminated. Remember, when it comes to baggy eyes, creams can only reduce the condition. You can expect complete cure only if you go under the knife. Yes, a costly plastic surgery would be required to completely eliminate the problem of baggy eyes.

While hunting for the best eye cream, do remember your problem or else you will end up running around the bush, and never be able to address the root cause. Not addressing the root cause will only offer temporary solution to your problem. Also, be cautious while applying the cream around your eye lid as you are dealing with a sensitive area.

If you walk into any of the nearby cosmetic store, you will find large amount of eye creams available with them. Most companies are aware about the fact that individuals all over the world are constantly looking for means to enhance their appearance. The store owners or workers are not professional when it comes to health care. Unlike a doctor, they can't precisely provide you with a product which will do the trick for you. They will most likely hand over the most profitable or least selling product. The research work is left on you. Before you purchase an eye cream, consider your eye problem and do some research about the credibility of the product to ensure that you receive the best eye cream.
